The highlight of the closing ceremony was an art programmehonouring the gong culture as well as the unique cultural values of the Central Highlands, including Gia Lai province.

At the ceremony, Chairman of Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee Vo Ngoc Thanh noted that the festival gathered gongs and traditional musical instruments with wonderful sounds as well as over 1,000 artisans from five Central Highland provinces.
The event featured a wide variety of activities, including a street festival, a reproduction of traditional rituals and festivals of Central Highland provinces, a seminar on preservation and promotion of gong culture, performances of folk arts and introduction of Central Highland cuisine.
On the occasion, the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 67 collectives for their great contributions to the success of the 2018 Central Highland Gong Culture Festival.
The Cultural Space of Gong of Central Highlands was recognised by UNESCO as the ‘Masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity’ in 2005.
