Located about 22km southeast of Hai Phong City’s centre, Do Son is a small peninsula created by Rong (Dragon) Mountain extending from Lach Tray Mouth to Van Uc Mouth.

Do Son attracts visitors by fresh air, beaches surrounded by pine hills and beautiful natural scenery. Do Son Beach is divided into three main zones including Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3. Do Son Beach is not blue due to its position in the middle of the two river mouths, but has moderate salinity to prevent skin from sunburn although sea bath at noon.

To Do Son, visitors can go along the coast to admire the stretching pine hills, rows of casuarina, coconut, sea bath and enjoy a variety of fresh seafood such as shrimp, crab, fish, squid, jellyfish, etc.

Besides the sea tourism potential, Do Son also owns many unique cultural and historical values. It is famous for Wharf K15 Relic – the departure point of Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail with the Monument of “Ho Chi Minh Sea Trail Relic” in Xanh (Green) Valley at the foot of Nghinh Phong Hill. K15 Relic is a heroic symbol honouring bravery, willingness, sacrifice for the country of soldiers on unnumbered ships in the past.

Situated at the foot of the rock mountain in Zone 1 of Do Son, Hang Pagoda (Cave Pagoda) is known as one of the first places to import Buddhism into Vietnam. The pagoda leans on a rock cave with 3.5m in height, 7m in width and 25m in depth. The pagoda has many partitions and scrolls carved finely and red lacquer trimmed with gold. The sanctum of the pagoda owns an Amida Buddha’s bronze statue with 5 tons in weight and 2.7m in height. Outside the temple, there are the row of Arhat statues, the stupa and the altar of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara.

Dubbed as the land of the myth, to Do Son, visitors do not miss the opportunity to visit Lady De Temple backing on Doc Mountain and facing the immense sea. The temple is associated with the legend of the love story of a beautiful girl Dao Thi Huong with Lord Trinh Doanh (1740 - 1767). Because of the pregnancy by the lord without marriage, she violated village custom and was drowned in the sea. After her unjustly death, Lord Trinh Doanh vindicated her and had a temple built named Lady De to dedicate her.

The sanctum of the temple worships Lady De, Three Mother Goddesses and King of Water. The campus of the temple has the altar of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, the bell tower, etc. Every year, numerous local people and visitor go to the temple to pray for fortune, and especially vindicate the injustices of their family or themselves.

With the beautiful natural scenery, many unique cultural and historical relics, Do Son is expected to bring visitors interesting and unforgettable experiences.
