Participants at the meeting discussed the development of traffic infrastructure, with the aim of transforming the transport corridors into economic corridors in order to facilitate trade and tourism activities in the GMS countries.

They also signed an “Early Harvest” Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the GMS-CBTA, which requests that the countries simultaneously realise their commitments within the GMS framework.

Accordingly, the six countries will make agreements on a procedure for the implementation of Single Stop Inspection/Single Window Inspection (SSI/SWI) at border areas, and the construction of a common license for each vehicle to enter and exit other GMS countries via the corridors.

The MoU is designed to create a legal framework for many types of vehicles to transport goods and people across the borders of the GMS member countries, thus reducing logistics costs.
