In the context of the two countries are excitedly celebrating the 45th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations and five years of strategic partnership, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his wife’s official visit to Singapore plays a significant role in deepening the cooperative and strategic partnership between the two countries.

For nearly half a century, the relationship between Vietnam and Singapore has been preserved, fostered and developed in all fields by leaders generations and people of the two countries. Both sides regularly exchange delegations and contacts at all levels. Particularly in 2017, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited Vietnam twice in March 2017 and November 2017 on the occasion of the APEC Summit.
In April 2018, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid an official visit to Singapore and attended the 32nd ASEAN Summit. In this coming November, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will visit Singapore and attend the 33rd ASEAN Summit. Therefore, the official visit to Singapore by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his wife will be a new highlight in the bright multi-colored picture of friendly ties between the two countries.
Within the framework of the visit, Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will meet President Halimah Yacob, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and talks with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. The two sides will discuss measures to implement the agreements reached during the official visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in April 2018, promoting the fields of bilateral cooperation, strengthening cooperation in the framework of ASEAN as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Particularly, Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his wife will attend the "Vietnam Cultural Day in Singapore". This is a significant milestone marking the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Singapore diplomatic relations (1/8/1973 - 1/8/2018). "Vietnam Culture Day in Singapore" represents a joint effort of both sides to promote mutual understanding, and is also a vivid proof for cultural exchanges of the two countries, becoming an important bridge, promoting friendship between Vietnam and Singapore.
It is assured that the Vietnam - Singapore relationship has been developing vividly, practically and effectively on all pillars of Strategic Partner comprehension, at the same time remaining a lot of potential to support each other to develop further in the future. In this context, the visit of Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his wife will certainly contribute to foster the exclusive and effective development of cooperative friendly partnership and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore, meeting the needs and interests of the two peoples, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
