On the morning of February 24, thousands of Hanoian have gathered around the West lake to watch the first ever traditional dragon boat race of the city.
The event has drawn 400 athletes from 27 teams of Ha Noi’s districts, namely Hoang Mai, Bac Tu Liem, Chuong My, My Duc, Thanh Oai, and Ba Vi and other towns such as Son Tay, Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Thai Nguyen provinces. Organised by the Ha Noi People’s Committee and Vietnam Airlines, the event aimed to preserve the folk sport and to develop it into a tourism product.
