The Laos PM makes the trip at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The 40th meeting of the committee was held in Laos on February 4-5, 2018.
Vietnam and Laos have enjoyed close-knit traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Trade between Laos and Vietnam topped 900 million USD in 2017, a year-on-year increase of over 10 percent. The two countries have set a target of 4 billion USD by 2020.
Vietnamese companies have invested 5 billion USD in 276 projects in Laos, mainly in energy, services, infrastructure, mining, agriculture and forestry.
