The visit will be made at the invitation of Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, the NA’s Committee for External Affairs announced on June 4.

Vietnam and Micronesia officially set up diplomatic ties on September 22, 1995. Speaker of the Micronesian Congress Isaac V. Figir paid an official visit to Vietnam in January 2008.
Micronesia donated 25,000 USD to Vietnam to address consequences caused by typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Meanwhile, Vietnam also sent 50,000 USD as relief aid to Micronesia in 2015 when storm Maysak swept through Micronesia.
