Norwegian Red Cross helps increase disaster response capacity

The Norwegian Red Cross (NRC) has provided more than 7 million USD to help 21 localities nationwide cope with natural disasters and improve environmental hygiene over the past 21 years.

The information was released at a recent meeting in Ha Noi to celebrate the 21-year partnership between the Red Cross of Vietnam and the Norwegian Red Cross.

According to the Vietnamese organisation, thanks to the NRC’s assistance, a project worth about 16 billion VND (704,000 USD) has been carried out in 15 communes of the northern mountainous provinces of Ha Giang and Lao Cai, and central Nghe An province since 2015.

The project has aided more than 176,000 locals, helping them reduce the adverse impacts of disasters and improve their livelihoods.
