At the meeting, the PM spoke of the efforts and contributions made by overseas Vietnamese businesspersons and intellectuals to comprehensively accelerating Viet Nam-U.S. relations and enhancing the reputation of the Vietnamese community in the U.S.

He briefed the delegates on Viet Nam’s socio-economic performance over recent years, reiterating the Party' and State’s guideline and policy of always considering Vietnamese people abroad an integral part of the nation.
The Government leader called on the Vietnamese expatriates to be interested in the development of the country, affirming that he always respects and listens to their constructive opinions.
The entrepreneurs and intellectuals expressed their honour to meet the PM as well as their impression at Viet Nam’s development and integration.
They appreciated the Vietnamese State’s policies for the overseas Vietnamese community as a whole and Vietnamese people living in the U.S. in particular, voicing their wish to contribute to the country’s reform process and the acceleration of Viet Nam-U.S. cooperative relations.

On the same day, PM Phuc had a meeting with Professor Ngo Thanh Nhan and his spouse, Merle Ratner, during which he thanked the couple for their active support and contribution to promoting ties between the Vietnamese and U.S. people, particularly in the fields of addressing war consequences in Viet Nam and assisting Vietnamese dioxin/Agent Orange victims’ fight for justice.
Expressing delights at Viet Nam’s strong development, Prof. Nhan and his wife put forwards a number of recommendations in facilitating cooperation in overcoming war consequences in Viet Nam, and pledged to continue contributing actively to strengthening relations between Viet Nam and the U.S. in the future.
