The delegation welcoming President Tran Dai Quang and his spouse consisted of Japanese Secretary of State Kazuyuki Nakane; Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda and his spouse; leaders, officials of the Japanese Royal Family and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong and his spouse; Consul General of the Embassy of Vietnam in Osaka and Fukuoka; staff of the Embassy of Vietnam and representatives of Vietnamese students in Japan.

Vietnam and Japan are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties this year. Bilateral partnership is now at its best time in history since the establishment of diplomatic relationship. Senior leaders of the two sides have maintained regular visits and meetings at international and regional fora.
The State visit of President Tran Dai Quang and his spouse aims to affirm Vietnam’s consistent external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification in international relations, as well as the importance that the country attaches to strengthening the extensive strategic partnership with Japan.
The visit also aims to bolster the close relationship and political trust between senior leaders of Vietnam and Japan, contributing to strengthening the bilateral extensive strategic partnership.
In the afternoon, President Quang and the high-level delegation paid a visit to Gunma prefecture, the first stop of his state visit to Japan. Visiting Gunma, the President and his delegation visited Maebashi factory, Koganei Seiki Co (Gunma) Co. - where 39 Vietnamese engineers worked there.
