Seminar on promoting investments in youth in Africa held

A seminar on “harnessing the demographic dividend through investments in the youth in Africa” was jointly organized on May 22 in Ha Noi by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Embassies from African nations in Viet Nam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice-Dean of the African Group in Ha Noi, Ambassador of Mozambique Gamiliel Munguambe asserted that Arica boasts the youngest population in the world with around 200 million aged from 15-24, the number which is expected to double in the next 30 years.

Thus, the economies in Africa have to face a high unemployment rate, including 60% among the youth.

Members in the African Group in Ha Noi have decided to organize the seminar to share initiatives on making changes for African economies to serve the youth, promoting potentials and bringing hope for youngsters.

Mr. Gamiliel Munguambe expected that issues proposed in the event will open new strategic partnership models in the context of South-South cooperation between African nations and other countries in the Southeast Asia and other regions in the world.

With the function of connecting the friendship relations and promoting economic cooperation, the VUFU will do its utmost to assist nations in Africa to comprehend start-up models and top businessmen in Viet Nam, said Vice President of VUFU Don Tuan Phong.

The two sides will strengthen exchange activities among the youth and share experience on economic development, he added.

The seminar included two main discussions on harnessing demographic dividend through investments in the youth in Africa and promoting start-up among the youth in the globalization era.

The event is held on the occasion of the 54thanniversary of Africa Day (May 25, 1963), the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).
