Vietnam embassy boosts cooperation with Russian parliamentarians |
The event kicked off a series of activities initiated and hosted by the embassy during the Vietnam Year in Russia 2019. It drew the participation of delegates from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education, the press, representatives from leading universities in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Vladivostok, Vietnamese studies experts, Vietnamese language lecturers, and students.

In his remarks at the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh highlighted that language and culture are billed as important channels of people’s diplomacy to promote the nation’s image and prestige in foreign countries.
He laid stress on the considerable potential of the Vietnamese studies in Russia especially when the two nations are working to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Also, the ambassador expressed his hope that the forum will create a playground for all people who have chosen Vietnamese studies as their current and future career.
Roman Nilov, a Russian diplomat who studied Vietnamese history at Saint Petersburg State University, spoke highly of the organisation of the forum, saying that it is practical to bolster the bilateral relations.
Ten scientific papers were delivered at the forum, giving a deeper insight into the research and teaching of Vietnamese language and Vietnamese studies in Russia, demands for human resources in the sector, and measures to improve the Vietnamese teaching and learning, among others.
Participants particularly pointed to the need to reform the curricula and means of teaching which have been used since the time of the Soviet Union.
According to Professor Aleksander Sokolovskyi from the Far Eastern Federal University, there are various job opportunities for Vietnamese language students in large cities that have tourism and trade ties with Vietnam or have twinning relations with Vietnamese partners like Vladivostok.
He also hailed the sound cooperation between Vietnamese and Russian universities which helps increase student exchanges and better teaching and learning quality.
Other participants at the event said that the Vietnamese Embassy plays a central role in promoting Vietnamese studies in the Russia.
The Embassy committed to doing its utmost to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, including education and science.
Ambassador Manh believed that the Russian researchers will make further contributions to tightening the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
