She is the only women’s assistant referee in ASEAN to receive certification with FIFA standards to reach the Elite 2018 level, allowing her to officiate at the final round of FIFA Women’s World Cup in France in 2019.
Trinh, who was born in the southern province of Long An, practiced during the Tet Lunar New Year to prepare for the AG Cup.
She said that her physical strength and skills would be tested when acting as referee in Portugal. If she passes, she will begin her duties.
Trinh was awarded FIFA-level referee certification in 2012 and became an AFC elite referee one year later. She was assistant referee at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan in 2016.
